Personal Statements part 2
After much thought and discussion, we decided to look into one year pre-med master programs as well as Medical schools. After completing this process over and over for each new application with its different set of essays questions, I thought I would share what we learned.
Personal Statement and essays. Basically, how to sell yourself on paper. The most nerve racking part of the application itself. As you write, you hope your words don't come across as desperate(even though you're dying to get in), and not to mention full of yourself. It was hard to balance an attitude of yeah I am human trying to balance life and school but still GREAT candidate for your program because of.... insert long list of reasons here. Seriously, experience after experience. Right. You have been working hard for this and now is the time to sell you as a prospective student. Doctors are more than text books, they need people skills to and this essay lets them see that. So wording and flow became important as we looked for ways to bring out the hubby personality but still bringing out his accomplishments.
